roadtrip

This weekend, my favorite people (lane and Yvette) came out for a little visit. We took a little adventure across Colorado and had a really lovely time together!

Ouray

When we arrived in Ouray, we could see nothing but the pounding rain on the windsheild. We spent the evening in the saloon making dares and trying to get Lane thrown out (or Yvette slid down the bar).

The next morning, the clouds parted and gave us a few hours of magic. The river was rushing through town and both waterfalls raging. You can see one in the shaft of sunlight just above the sleepy town. The other, Box canyon, was a short walk away. We paid our money and made our way down the catwalk to the source of the waterfall. The heavy rains gave us a frightening show. Unfortunantly, we all forgot our cameras. This other picture of a waterfall was along the million dollar pass about 2 miles above box canyon.
The most fascinating revelation is that these waterfalls scared me. I realized that i need to change my "water answer" in that stupid personality test. I spent the rest of the trip wondering about this little dilemna.

We took the million dollar highway from Ouray to Silverton. This was truly one of the most spectacular drives. The road was narrow, windy and followed the deep gorge without a guardrail. Of course, I did not drive or we all would have been rushed back through box canyon in surging river. I could barely even look out my window it was so terrifying to me (hence the lack of pictures).

Once we got to Silverton, the sun began to peep out and granted us this beautiful rainbow just as we were leaving town. ahhhh..

durango

We beat the weather to Durango. The Aspens blurted out their final colorsand i snapped away from the backseat. It's amazing that either of these turned out. I've been wanting to see Durango for a long time, and honestly, after driving along the million dollar highway, i was disappointed. We stayed ahead of the weather the rest of the way home.
The remainder of our time together was equally as lovely to me, although mostly spent indoors watching some really fantastic quirky movies. I have to admit a little lonliness around the house since Yvette and Lane left. Jan is gone too and all i have is my paper to keep me busy! One week and counting!
