I've been wanting to host a discussion group for a long time, and after random chats in coffee shops, porch swings and round the whole foods olive bar, i finally decided to give it a try. Fellow world travelers, sara, jan, nora, joseph and heather b came over for an evening of world foods and ideas. Joseph supplied some interesting articles that fueled a really fascinating discussion regarding globalization. I was presented with some interesting and challenging ideas, not only on a theoretical, political scale, but also in how we can participate in grassroots change in the place we live (stand in the place where you live.... REM was on to something!). I look forward to more reading and discussion in the future - and more indigo girls sing-a-longs :-)

After the last of the cheese was scraped from the pot and the major issues of the world solved, Joseph seranaded the girls with songs of greenwich village and the global village. Jan best described him as a perfect mix of Bono and Jonny Cash... Bonny seemed the perfect stage name!

Marvin turned 40 on Saturday! The party was a big suprise for Marvin, but Christina also had a suprise awaiting the rest of us. If you've seen "America's got Talent", you might recognize Dave the Horn guy, who made an appearance at the party. Not only did he wow the crowd with his musical arrangements, but got Marvin to toot his own horn. I personally think the pimp look goes well with marvin's new post-30's look.
